I just went to exchange an item I bought at the local grocery store and was waiting behind a woman who was sending some money through western union. When she was asked for her id I saw her pull out a stack of drivers licenses and it seemed like she was choosing which one to give the cashier. I couldn't see if they were all from different people or just all for the same person (old expired licenses). I had no idea what to do. Should I have said something? Should I contact the police? |

I would say, and excuse me for being blunt, mind your own business and if you're going to be a crime fighter, pick your battles wisely. If you stop and think about it, she most likely wasn't doing anything wrong and you're over reacting. You sound paranoid. But anywho to answer your question, I think the correct thing to do would be to wait for that customer to leave and alert the cashier who helped her. It it within their responsibilities to be on the look out for suspicious activities and report them. No I'm by no means paranoid. Just that I live in Southern California and I know for a fact that human suggelers use stollen IDs to smuggel ilegals into the United States. I didn't do anything about it (that time) because I wasn't sure. And I posted this question here because I wanted to know what others would have done. I also agree with @IamTechCrazy. Plus, why were you looking at what she was taking out though? Kind of nosy IMO. |

People don't use false id's they use our id's falsely, you should have waited for them to leave and said something to the clerk, if they fobbed you off without a good explanation and you were still concerned, then I would have contacted the police, I have been the victim of id theft, although it did not cause me a monetary loss, it did cause a lot of problems, including having to defend a number of criminal charges DUI being just one of them, all could have resulted in me going to jail, many people are not so lucky and lose everything, if we do not worry about them, we are only hurting ourselves as we are next in line |

i have a bundle of Id's state and county issued most are expired and no matter because most state and county issued IDs are accepted as ID and valid for from to 10 years after they expire .. in fact if you ever intend on gettinga passport I recommend holding on even if you are just a young teen school Ids from each year to get a US passport you have to present not only common ID but you must submit 5 forums of ID that are 5 year or older not just prove who you are but what you have been up to for the last 5 years of your life and yes birth certificates of childern ineed do count school IDs year book pictures with your name list on them like foot ball hero and such.. Throw nothing away when it comes to ID one day you will be asked to produce it even if you think 10 to 25 30 years after the fact its useless .. I also keep all IDs I have ever been issued in a safe place. But I never carry any of them around with me if they are expired. @Lestat611: Maybe she was just out getting a passport? So she needed to be carrying them all? Then she was looking through to find the non-expired drivers license? |
