Well, the cheapest way to get a gaming PC is to build one yourself. And you can definitely build yourself a pretty decent one for €1,000. My PC, which is a couple of years old now, cost $800 to build. It uses a q6600 quad core, a Radeon 4850 for graphics , and has 8 gigs of RAM. By no means is top of the line, but it can still handle most recent games fairly well on high settings.
Are you comfortable building your own system? Or do you want to get a prebuilt one?

Here's something I picked out: http://secure.newegg.ca/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=18219685. Plenty of power to play pretty much every game out there, even BF3, on pretty high settings. It all comes out to around $1100 CAD, which is about €850.
Hope this helps.
