Paint.net alternative for Mac? What is out there that's (FREE) for photo editing on the Mac?

I love the program Paint.net and it is just the right program for me. I am wondering if there is a program just like Paint.net but for the Mac side? I don't want to go and spend the money on Photoshop. I know how to use Photoshop it's the price that I don't want to spend. So is there any like minimal photo editing on the Mac that does the exact same thing that Paint.net does? If so is it (FREE?)
