USB mouse issue

Once more, I have a computer problem. I have recently purchased a usb mouse and it worked fine for about a week, and soon after it started lagging and jerking aroutd. I grabbed a mouse pad and that did not work so I checked my driver software and uninstalled it, but that did not work and that also screwed me even more because it wont reinstall. As alwase I am running Vista and need help.
