A lot of people are upset about this. They say there isn't enough material to make 3 films out of it, and that this is all about money. I'm not sure I buy that. I think it's because they know this is the last chance to make Tolkien films, at least with all the right actors and everything, and they want to give us as much of Tolkien's story as they can. They want to tell us the whole story and tie everything together as well as possible with the material they're allowed to use. And apparently the LOTR appendices offer enough into and story to do that in 3 films. Other people see it differently, but I'll personally reserve such harsh judgment, and continue to say "In Peter, Fran, and Phil we trust." But that's just my view. What do you guys think? |

I think it is a good thing. Peter Jackson is my favourite director and the Lord of the Rings are my favourite films. Peter Jackson will make sure all three films are well paced. You can tell with Lord of the Rings that there was much more he wanted to include so I think it is good he can now do that with The Hobbit. |

People are making a big deal, good or bad, out of this when they are going to watch it anyway lol. Two movies, three movies, who cares. I'll most likely wait till they're all out on Blueray and then watch them back to back. |

Fantastic article on this matter:
