Would you pay a monthly subscription to YouTube so you had no advertising on the videos you watch -- or the website at all? Perhaps, as part of your subscription, you could gain access to the same uploading tools and longer video allowance as partnered users.

I would; I hate advertising. I channel hop during them when watching TV until my show starts again. I pay for premium on Spotify so I don't have adverts and to have the better service, and I would pay it on YouTube as I get a lot of my entertainment and news from it.

As for addressing the fact that adverts on videos makes both YouTube and that account money, it would just work the same as Spotify. Spotify keeps X-amount and then the rest is divided up amongst the artists you listen to. The more you listen to a particular song, the more that artist gets from your subscription fee. So it shouldn't change anything on the revenue aspect for YouTube or content creators -- in fact, it could grow the revenue for each, especially if a premium member only watches a small number of channels regularly as they would receive higher dividends from that user since there would be more money left over after YouTube's cut.

if you use chrome then go here

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/cfhdojbkjhnklbpkdaibdccddilifddb

although many people are against this since i think the site owners dont get paid since u dont see there ads.

hmm seems dodgy to me especially if it's detected by chrome or youtube which of course they own, i'd rather not risk getting my account suspended :/

AdBlock is extremely widely used and is perfectly legal. They won't and can't suspend you for blocking ads. It's not dodgy!

The many forms of media benefit financially from ad revenue. It makes them more competitive. When I was a kid cable was ad free pay T.V.. Look at it now. I hate to say it but media = ad space; from your favorite web page to the glossy box your new gadget came in.

not so, again Spotify as example i pay a premium and no ads during the music unlike for standard users who also have limited play counts on each song per month.

Generally it's so.

I'd much rather view 15 second ads than paying a monthly fee. If I did have to pay something, I couldn't see myself paying more than $5 a month for a site that doesn't work well (subscriptions don't show up all of the time...).

Youtube advertising does not bother me one bit. Plus I don't watch to many videos on Youtube.

Think some people even pay a monthly subscription to Hulu plus and they still get ads.

You can't wait the 15 seconds or at the most a minute? That's how YouTube is free and why fork over your hard earned cash just because you're impatient. I doubt YouTube would do that but it just shows how willing people are to pay for things that are completely unnecessary. That's like paying for Pandora which may only be $36 a year but add to that your Netflix $96 a year, cable tv which in my area is on average $70 a month so $840 a year, and whatever other pointless subscriptions people waste money on. We are at about $1000 a year on things that are luxuries and not to mention can be obtained mostly free.

No. Why pay them to remove the adds when adblock plus does the job for free and not just on that one website?

I'm not sure. In the past I didn't have Adblock enabled on YouTube simply because I'm fine with simple banner advertisements on the sides of videos, and the advertisement that pops up in front of the videos.

I started to use Adblock as soon as YouTube started adding the in stream ads or video ads that play before and during a video.

No. Admittedly I have AdBlock installed, but I urge everyone to disable it for YouTube. Content producers work hard to make their videos and deserve the support. They don't get paid a lot unless they literally get millions of views.

What I suggest you do is learn to deal with it. I have now. Yes, it's annoying that you sometimes get ads when you are trying to watch something in a rush, or show something to someone, but they will also understand. Most ads have a skip button, so you only have to watch 5 seconds of it anyway. It does not bother me anymore, because unlike some providers, they don't continually show the same advert over and over if it's the only one they have available.

I would only suggest the use of AdBlock where adverts actually infringe on your browsing or viewing experience (eg. Popups, adverts covering or distracting from content, or that stupid World of Tanks advert on YouTube which moves the video player to the right every time it loads ><)
