I've been wondering this basically for months now, as some of my friends are moving to Linux distros, thanks in part to me turning them onto Linux by telling them that you wont catch viruses and it's a bit easier to use than Windows. I recently turned my dad onto Ubuntu, and he's liking it since I turned him onto it. My question is, have you turned people onto Linux, and what distro do they use?

I have made one friend of mine who I have mentored outside of high school to Linux. I've been using Ubuntu with the gnome interface. And he likes using the KDE version on his computer. But he also still has one other system like I do that has windows on it. Because we're working in IT and since you know how it is with working in offices. We still have to keep our feet wet for the office workers. I might be able to change another client of mine to ubuntu this weekend. |

I've probably influenced about 5 people to what Linux is, but none of them really use it every day. Personally, I don't use it every day, but once I get back to school, I might start using my Lubuntu laptop daily. Then again, I am getting an old (still new enough to run Mountain Lion...2008) MacBook Pro which has a significantly better battery. |

I started using Ubuntu this year on a second laptop but i also have laptop running win 7 and a mac with mountain lion so I get the full experience :D |

Online friends, about 4 or 5. Actual friends I see on a regular basis, only 1 unfortunately. Most of my friends are just to stuck in their ways to change. I don't usually pester them to much about it though. Their choice is their choice. I'll make suggestions but who am I to dictate which OS is best for them to use. |

Six. One is currently on Xubuntu, two are on Mint, another is on Ubuntu, another is on CentOS, and another is using both Arch and Gentoo on another computer. |

A few people. All using various distros of Ubuntu. I no longer use Linux however, switched to OS X. |
