First of all my name is Rafal Chmiel and people who speak English mostly pronounce my surname wrong. So I'm in trouble here. Which domain name should I choose? rafalc.com or rafalchmiel.com? As I said, people may struggle with the latter while the first one is shorter. What do you think?

I'd personally would take the first one, but it is your site, so pick whatever you want.

I think the first one is better, since people tend to get your surname wrong.

Rafalc.com seems better.
