During David Di Franco's live stream yesterday, I asked why he picked Squarespace over something like WordPress. He said he liked Squarespace though he's not a big fan of the new version. So this leaded me to the question, What do you like better? The Open Source WordPress or Squarespace?

I guess it depends on the preference of the person. Wordpress is basically free when you sign up for it when I was over at squarespace. month to month pricing is about $9 a month approximately. It didn't mention if there was a free to sign up for it. The one that I using from wordpress is free with about 4 gigabyte for images. Also with wordpress. You can also download their CMS which is free and use it on a spare computer if you have one at home or a older server that was passed down from where you work or bought at a omputer recycling centre. And get it running at home with ClearOS or if you have a legal copy of Windows 2003 server or windows server 2008 or Windows Server 2012 that you can install it on without any problems. Even Microsoft has a setup application where you can do this for free with windows 2008 on up to do the installation and configuration. Just answer some questions for location, root username and password. And your setup with that easy breezy stuff.

Personally I would go with either Wordpress or a version of Joomla that I still have over here on my computer. It all depends on the person who wants to host their own website.
