My laptop keyboard does not type correctly. It will jump around while I'm typing, and will type different keys, and sometimes delete some text that I had typed previously. Is it possible that I could order a new part, or just fix this? I paid over $1,000 for this laptop, and I don't really want a new laptop.

look on ebay for a new keyboard, but not before you reformat and see if it is software related. if your friends like to play pranks they can install some software to mess with you.

actually there is software updates in the last weeks win7 has that is messing up touch pads on some laptops and ultra books this is like the 18th person in the last few weeks same issue ..

my wifes new computer here had been working great since she got it 2 months back since the last up date she is having issue the same as decribed here turning the track pad off using a wireless mouse corrects the issue unrtill you can figure out how to remove the update causing the issue ..

we are at the point of beielveing it to be a java up date or even the last chrome update as it seems the keyboad is not working as it did mainly on the web browser and mostly on site llike facr book which is highly dependent on java you can be typing in messages or profile update the cursor will bounce to the top of the text it will delete fully as if you hilited text and hit the back space..

also tried some other sites with the computer hehe not sure what is all in the back end of this site making it tick but the answer box while type actually flashes or blinks best I can describe it and the faster it does this the more likely it is the cursor is about to jump out of place..

how ever on my word press stie there seems to be no issue and no issue with notepad either..

lap tops tend to take a beating I would first a few things first a good cleaning under all the keys this is not the easyest things but with some time anda big can of air you should be able to get it celaned up once had a friend with a messed up key on there keyboard was causing all kinds of crazy issues we found a cat nail under the keys.

the other things I would do is look into the touch pad setting point setting key response speeds .

sometimes these setting can get changed and we dont notice the touch pad gets so quick and sensitive it picks up the shadow of your hands and fingers as you type , Ubuntu has a feature now where while you are typing the touch pad is deactivated so the jumping of the cursor and such dont happen..

if you are using a wireless mouse make sure it is in good working order the battery is new and the windows setting on it are good ..

try a your lap top with a USB or wireless keyboard and with track pad set off see if that fixes things , if the key board is messed up the lowest cost repair would be to use a small wireless keyboard not perfect solution but will allow you to use the lap top for the duration of its life :)
