So I recently flashed the AwesomeICS version 3.7 on my T-Mobile MyTouch 4G aka the HTC Glacier, and it's great. I recently figured out that you could install Google Now on it via a zip file you install through Clockworkmod Recovery. I've been using it for quite some time now, and it's great. It works super well, and I would recommend it to anyone that's on Android. Do you use Google Now? I know it's only a Jelly Bean thing, but if you have used it on a Nexus device, what do you think of it?

P.S.- My weather is off for some reason, it said Harlem, instead of Washington Heights. Weird. Also, it displayed that it was sunny outside, at almost 12am.

Well I certainly use it, but not as much as I would like.

I really like it though, really cool idea. And it has proven useful a couple times already so its definitely cool.

I wish it did more commands though.

(Aug 16 '12 at 01:43) DJ Scooby Doo DJ%20Scooby%20Doo's gravatar image

What do you mean by more commands? I think it does a pretty good job for being first released. I wouldn't want a Siri clone either, as I find Siri just tacky.

I want my phone to give me results, not have a conversation with me.

(Aug 17 '12 at 00:49) JordanV JordanV's gravatar image

Nah, not like Siri. I meant more commands as in it can translate words on the fly like Google Goggles can.

Also, i haven't had many cards pop up, since I don't normally search on my phone while at home, but the couple of times I had a card other than weather, it provided a clean look, and it was very informative and to the point, which i like.

(Aug 17 '12 at 00:52) JordanV JordanV's gravatar image

Yeah, I like the cards. They're legit. However, I wish they updated automatically instead of about every hour.

(Aug 17 '12 at 00:55) DJ Scooby Doo DJ%20Scooby%20Doo's gravatar image

Ah I see what you mean. Well maybe Google will allow other developers to tap into the power of Google Now in the future.

(Aug 17 '12 at 00:57) JordanV JordanV's gravatar image

Word. See I have the baseball stats up there? I'm a big Yankees fan, and I wish it were like the ESPN app that has some fanfare when they do a home run or something like that.

(Aug 17 '12 at 01:00) DJ Scooby Doo DJ%20Scooby%20Doo's gravatar image

Yeah that would be pretty sick. Though for me, I would want some fanfare for the next "Arby 'N the Ch!3F" or LockerGnome YouTube video XD

I'd be using Google Now a lot more often if it did offer some more things, but for right now Google Now is something that did move me towards the Android side. I mean I flashed it on Ice Cream Sandwich. I know in iOS you can do it with the iPhone 4 or whatever, but this is different because Google doesn't care (to a certain extent) if you root. They embrace it.

Rooting and going to Jellybean was the best thing I ever did with my Galaxy Nexus. I used to always have to search up the forecast that spanned more than a couple of days. I find it quite useful. But I also find my self accidentally launching it when i try to unlock my phone. Its also kind of creepy how it knows all these things...

I could root and flash Jelly Bean on mine, but I need to find a good ROM for it. The one so far has bugs. I use it often, but I bet it'll be seldom used, just like the people who get the iPhone 4S and say they'll use Siri, and in reality they only use it for 2 weeks or so.

(Aug 16 '12 at 01:41) DJ Scooby Doo DJ%20Scooby%20Doo's gravatar image

i used the voice search feature for a good 3 hours straight... never really again after that...

(Aug 16 '12 at 01:43) avrgboy avrgboy's gravatar image

The cards are a good idea though. I mean that's something really nice Google has implemented instead of saying, "What's the weather like outside", like a broken record.

(Aug 16 '12 at 01:47) DJ Scooby Doo DJ%20Scooby%20Doo's gravatar image

Its very clean. Overall very good addition to the latest android os. Jellybean is amazingly smooth.

(Aug 16 '12 at 01:48) avrgboy avrgboy's gravatar image

As soon as there is a stable and battery conscious ROM, I'll be sure to flash it.

At first I didn't know what you meant by you were glad you rooted and installed a Jelly Bean ROM, but then it dawned on me... I'm guessing you're either a Verizon or Sprint customer :P

windmobile... came with icecream sandwich 4.0.1... no OTA updates for me... till I got Jellybean.

Honestly I haven't used it very much. It's really not what I thought it was, and with the Nexus 7, it seems pointless to me. Now to me means where ever I am, they will know what information I want. The Nexus 7 can't provide me information without an internet connection.

Sure I can ask it what's the weather today, but so can Siri, and Google, and Bing, and Android without Google now. I guess I was ahead of time in technology, because when I first heard about it, I thought it was like a personal assistant giving you information you don't know when you need it, without you knowing you need it. What I mean is, if you walk outside, without looking at the weather, and it's going to rain, it would be cool for Google now to ring, and talk to you and tell you to bring a Umbrella.

It's still the beginning. Maybe Google will add more to it, and maybe add mobile data to the next Nexus tablet.

Yeah, I know you could do all that on other devices, but this one is finally native to Android. Before, you had to put Vlingo on it to do all this. I know it's not a big stepping stone, but yeah. I wish they had a mobile data option for the Nexus 7, because if they did, I'd be using that as a phablet, lmaoo.
