The time has long passed since i grew tired of cold callers and constant emails about insurance, accident helpline/legal services, loan sharks or Payment Protection Service with the thousands of pounds just waiting to be claimed on loans and credit cards that i've never applied for! Or just the constant bombardment of spam on my email averaging 100 a day or more, the problem having become worse over time as it's become common practise for companies to trade you information between each other especially internet based companies. Most offer an opt out but it doesn't stop them selling your information on and someone else doing it and you only need to miss clicking on this option once for your contact information to be shared through a network of spammers and cold callers who then proceed to harass you. Cold text messages are especially annoying as you have to text back to 'stop' which can involve a charge depending on your contract and it bypasses the call shoving an advert that you're forced to then read, and of course replying with 'stop' simply lets them know the number is in use so expect a call :/ The other problem being that they use technical loop holes to keep you on their systems, you can ask them to stop contacting you but to them you haven't asked them to remove your information, so they simply move your info into a different call/text/email list.

I think we should all have the option via our phone and email service providers to opt out of receiving such unsolicited calls and emails perhaps at a small fee in cases of calls being blocked but free on email (i would hope).

We can opt out of the calls, the messages and emails are another thing, but if you keep getting them, contact your phone network, they should be able to do something about it, as it could be classed as harrasment.
