I do a lot of screen recording on my pc and I am wondering since I got a new Mac a few weeks ago is there a program that I can download that is exactly like CamStudio? I tried looking for CamStudio for the Mac but I had no good choice of finding it! If you find that I can use CamStudio for the Mac please tell me because I would be glad to be using that easy and wonderful Windows software! Anyways. I want a program that I do not have to pay for and I want a program that I don't have any watermarks! What do you recommend for me and what do you use that I can download that can record in HD 720p or 1080p that I can then edit in Final Cut Pro or in iMovie and then export it to YouTube so I can later upload it!

Ps if anybody knows this question? What is better meaning what is the difference between Final Cut Pro x and Final Cut Studio? Which one is the most recent program and what are the differences?

Quicktime (Which is a default program) has the ability to screen record in 1080p.

Can I record a certain spot on the screen or will it be the entire screen

You can choose to either select an area to record or you can record the entire screen.

With Quicktime, you can select the area you want to record, but from what I know, you can't have it follow your mouse and you can't just type in the dimensions, you have to select them with your mouse. However, this is probably the best free option for Mac OS X, so give it a try and see how you like it.
