Windows installation error

Hey guys, I have recently bought a new laptop for when I'm on the go (a COMPAQ CQ57-425SR), I'll mainly use this for audio recording, skype calls and internet browsing on this.

Anyway, I was installing Windows 7 (64 bit), the installation went through without a problem, until that part where it is supposed to restart on it's own, the installation ends. Then I got this error: "Windows could not complete the installation. To install windows on this computer, restart the installation"

The laptop starts up just fine, everything works, but should I be worried? I reinstalled windows a couple of times and the same error pops up, yet everything works.

Any tips?

why are you concerned if its working ???

you know what they say " if its not broke don't fix, if its is dont blame me " cnaces are the biggest issue is a bad sector on the HD that needs to be worked around if it happens everytime the same point .. just run check disk on it and let it run se how it goes ..

I agree, do a disk check, and maybe do a DBAN on the drive, and maybe it'll sort it's self out. http://www.dban.org/

Is it a 64 bit processor? Try installing a 32 bit copy? And if your just audio recording, Using Skype, and Internet browsing you could try a Linux distribution.

I haven't thought about that, I'll give Win 7 32bit a shot, and report back.

I think its a x64, my CQ60 is a 64 bit PC, most models around CQ60 are similar with different shels and/or amd and intel equivalents

if you plan to use a machine for skype and recording that is considered heavy use more inline with gaming it is away recommend to go 64bit with as many cores as possible.and a video card with as much memory as you can get ..

recommending 32 bit for heavy media use is assuring a short life for a computer ..

take it from me :) 5 year ina long distance relation shiop my machines spent hours on skype daily about live on it and did lots of recording editing nothing cook em faster if you dont have the processor to cut it and the cooling to match sometimes I replaced computer every 6 to 8 month s

But he's probably not going to be on Skype for hours on end recording so i don't think its an issue
