I installed xquartz to get GIMP to work on my mac but recently GIMP released an update which allows it to run without the need of xquartz. All I want to do is remove xquartz from the machine, I have no idea what it is really all I know is I needed it to run GIMP and now I don't. I'm running Lion if that helps.

Go to your Applications folder. Then go to the Utilities folder. Drag the app named XQuarts to the Trash, and empty the trash!
