Can't pick up guns in GTA 3?

For some reason, I can't pick up guns in GTA 3!? It's weird, I can pick up guns from dead gang members and cops, and I can pick up money, but not from AmmuNation. It's one of the first levels, and it makes no sense.

Did you pass the Pump-Action pimp mission? When you finish that mission you can buy guns from Ammu-nation.

That was the mission. What's-his-name tells you to get a gun there, free of cost. But it still wouldn't pick up, so I just used a cheat. After I killed the guy with the shotgun, I did get the pager message about the guns being available, i went to go buy one then suddenly it works -__-

Did you use a cheat before? That messes up the order of the game if you did.

If I remember correctly, you can't buy guns from Ammunation until one of your friends/partners takes you there to try a gun out in the back. (It's one of the early story missions) After that, you will be allowed to buy guns from the store.

I think that's VCS. I can't remember though, I beat VCS so long ago.
