Well, LibreOffice fits my needs well. If you save the files in Google Drive or Dropbox, that will take care of the syncing for you.

Dropbox, Google Drive, or Amazon CloudDrive in combination with OpenOffice or LibreOffice portable apps. For team collaboration, I don't think anything compares to Google Docs.

html5.teamlab.com is a good option I think. When it comes to wider possibilities in text editing, this tool is a kicker.
