So I am sure most people on this site is aware that Foxconn has been in the news recently. For those who dont a breif update: Foxconn is a Chinese manufacturing company that is particularly known for producing apple products. They have been known for a high suicide rate which has been attributed to the working and living conditions. An undercover reporter has gotten in and wrote about his experience. So the big question is: do you feel this is accurate, or is it exaggerated? Do you feel Apple, and other companies, should do more about this matter and demand better working conditions? Update: recently one of the Foxconn factories in china has had a riot that involved 2000 employees, 5000 police officers, and 40 reported injuries. Some reports claim it started over a personal dispute between a security guard and an employee, others believe low pay, back wages, and poor working conditions have a lot to do with it as well. Foxconn has also been said to produce the xbox. So at what point does a company need to step in and say that this is not right? Reportedly Apple has been doing this, but form what I can tell, things are getting worst. |
