Hey there,

I was just wondering whether Apple used it for this version of the iPhone. Or do people still have to worry when taking it out of their pockets...? The aluminum back is a really nice move into a safer and more customer friendly direction, but somehow, if in turn the front glass wasn't made out of Gorilla Glass, it would only be a thought half done.

Thanks in advance for any hints and thoughts (or a definitive answer).

Matt

The thing about Apple is that they would rather use the highest quality products than use a cheap alternative. With that said, I am sure that the iPhone 5 uses glass, not plastic.

If you're not responsible with your gadgets, you probably should get an Android phone anyway.

Actually, what I had in mind was the occasional slip, not a lack of responsibility. But you're right, they would probably rather go for high quality and high value, however, on the other side, they're also very keen on making their products even lighter from year to year. I assume any kind of plastic would be lighter than glass.

The occasional slip can be protected with a case. If I owned an iPhone, I'd use both a case and a screen protector.

Since Apple would rather focus on premium materials, it justifies the weight.

Does nobody have an idea on how to obtain this information? They didn't say anything at the keynote, right? And there's no information on the glass on the apple-site. It's one of the most important questions up to know when it comes to the new iphone, according to my opinion. The other things that are being talked about are basically all clear and done with, aren't they?
