Recently I bought a Lenovo Ideapad U410. I'm very happy with it, except for one thing. When I'm in the back of my house, I can't connect to my wireless network anymore, while my older laptop can. I went searching only and came to an odd conclusion. While reading the official spec list of this laptop, it mentioned it has an intel receiver. This is not the case, however. Speccy tells me I have an atheros receiver. The weird thing is that the laptop even comes with intel drivers on the repair disk. Should I return it and hope they replace it, hopefully improving my reception, or just open the laptop and swap out the receiver for something else?

It's okay, lol. I dont have the same specs as other models do and I'm fine. Dell released two models of the D620, the one with the Intel Wireless and the one with Broadcom. I have the Intel. Yours might be the same too, they might've released different chipsets for base models, and so on. Check the device manager to see what you ACTUALLY have. Speccy sometimes messes up a few details.

I checked and device manager says I have an atheros chip. It's an atheros AR9285. It's a wifi and bluetooth module.

http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-and-Z-series/My-new-u310-gives-really-low-speeds-on-wifi Looking at this many people have your card. They say if you bought it before 23 July you have to schedule service because there is a problem with the card.

I also found this, but I didn't buy this laptop prior to july 23rd. It's also not very easy to schedule service at lenovo. The website is not very clear about service in my country (the netherlands).

I know it's not, I had to send my IdeaPad back also. You should call them and explain your problem. 0900-654-654-0 is the number. I don't know how tolling works but apparently if you call the number, it's 0.15 Euros a minute. Take caution.

if needed, remove the bottom panel and check for the exact model of wifi card that you currently have, but at long as it is n300 and from a major brand then it should be fine.

I am having trouble finding the exact wifi card that it should have, as the only way this will be bad for you is if the spec sheet specifies a dual band wifi card, and you only get a single band card.

It's not a n300.. I found the model number. It's a atheros AR9285. it's a 150 mbit, so single band.
