I have a desktop and a laptop at my house. My desktop is connected with a LAN from a wireless router. My printer, Brother HL-2140 series is connected to my desktop with USB function It doesn't have wireless printing function. But whenever I want to print, I would have to bring my laptop and connect it manually. Is there a way to print it wireless? It really bugs man when I would always have to go there and connect it. They both are Windows 7 OS, 64 bit. Help me out please. Thanks.

Sharing over the network (PC must be powered on), a router with a USB print server, or just buy the 2170w/2270w Brother wireless printer & gift the other to a family member or friend. The 2170w took the same toner- not sure the 2270.

Cheers!

share the printer over the network... directions are all over the web. that or you can buy a print hub for the network. but i would hook it up to the desktop and leave it on.

You can share it on the network using homegroup, but that means, when you want to print, the desktop must be on.

There may be other ways to do it as well, but since the printer is not wireless enabled, there will no way to do so, with out connecting it to one of the computers and sharing it from there, and I know from experience, that can be inconvinient if you do not leave that computer on 24/7

I would set it to share on the desktop like what trueb had mentioned unless your router has the ability to have your printer hooked up via a usb port directly there and it would be seen from both and would be able to print that way. Which I have seen before as well. Try either one if you have the option to do so. I would go the way of connection it through as a shared printer on your desktop and leave the computer and printer running.
