I have a non HD cable box from Verizon Fios and I am wondering if I can connect a regular HDMI Fios cable to a non HD box that can't get HD channels? Can I do it or not?

If there is a HDMI port on the back you might be able to connect to it. However you will not get HD channels unless you subscribe to HD. And if you subscribe to HD then you should get a HD box.

I have Time Warner Cable, and plugging in a HDMI cable doesn't make a difference on Standard Definition TV. What makes a difference is the cable however. A cheap cable produces a cheap video and audio stream, vs a medium cable ($10-15) produces a better quality. Going back to the picture, I enclosed two pictures, one on a SD stream, and another on a HD stream. The SD stream has bars, while the HD stream is stretched out to fit the screen size. If you don't have HD, which I know Verizon has it for free, so does Time Warner, you need a HD box to even receive it. Hope you follow my advice.
