So this problem has just started where my flash drive will work on my laptop but not my desktop. It works sometimes on my desktop but other times it doesn't. Its not the USB ports because I've tried them all. I found a temp fix that only lasts a few days. Its take the files off and format it. It a major pain when I've got a few GB's on it.

Yeah, it's the ports, or at least the connection between the drive and the ports. A wiggle and a jiggle, or taking it out and putting it in again will usually solve the 'problem' but only for so long. Once the connection gets really loose (and it will) you could be looking at crashes. Look for bent or loose separators in the ports and if they're all fine ditch the drive (at least for use on the desktop). Nothing lasts for ever!
