Looking for some help: I need to install Service Pack 1 for Vista.

Microsoft strongly recommends I do the install via Windows Update vs. doing a stand-alone download.

When I attempt the SP1 download from Windows Update, It shows a successful install (after about 30 seconds). However, when I check "Installed Updates," SP1 is missing from the list.

I need to install SP1 in order to install SP2 and/or upgrade to Windows 7...any help would be much appreciated.

Are you sure you updated it to SP1? Usually when you go to computer and press system properties it should tell you what service pack you have installed. If you really can't update, I suggest doing the stand-alone jump to SP2. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/service-packs
