Is a standard tripod screw a 1/4 (male) screw? I am looking at a new camera mount and I just want to confirm that a 1/4 (male) screw is the same as what they use on a standard tripod.

I believe that it is, I just measured the size of the tripod holes on the bottom of the two cameras on my desk and they are both 1/4" in diameter. You might want to just look at your camera and measure the diameter of the hole on it to be sure, but I think it is. You could also look up your camera online and see what size tripod mount it has.

Yes, it is the US common 1/4" bolt. 20 threads per inch. (The larger tripod screw is 3/8".)
