Is there any way to make a file into a torrent file and then delete the original file off your pc to save disc space. If you want the file again just re-download the torrent file you made and could you do this with out uploading it to a website?

Or do you know a free program that will make the file size really small to save disc space I'm just trying to save disc space. Or is there a place where you can make your own website to put files on to save space on your computer for free?

You would have to have a place to download the file from. Torrents are for file sharing. If the file was unique it wouldn't work. When you download from a torrent; you're downloading a compressed file or folder from many computers all over the world. Those are the seeders. The only way to be able to download the file is to get someone to store and seed it.

Torrents wont work the the reasons @closetFuturist explained. However, if you want to just compress the files a little bit you can do that and not have a problem. However, you will not be able to compress them enough for you needs I am thinking. Likewise, no website is just going to give you free space you could have a file backup website like http://www.carbonite.com/en/ to back up your files and store them online. Carbonite is a really cheap backup program. The best way to do this is to buy another hard drive they are so cheap these days that you should never run out of room.
