I have a monitor, and a laptop connected to it via a VGA cable. I have an Xbox 360 connected to my monitor via a HDMI cable. Is it possible to record my Xboxb 360 footage on my laptop, through the VGA and HDMI? I have this setup - would it work? If no, what would (with this particular setup)? Thanks.

It will not work, you cannot capture video that way.
You also cannot use a simple HDMI Capturer because of the HDCP (High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection)
The best way is to get something like the Happague HD PVR since it uses component video to capture HD content (eliminating the problem with HDCP) and passes through the video while it captures it at the same time.

Er ... no (I think)! If I have understood the setup correctly, you have two outputs to the monitor but no input to the laptop. To make it work at all you'd have to feed the Xbox output to the laptop and then the monitor or have simultaneous connections to the laptop and monitor. I have no idea whether that's actually possible but even if it is I would imagine it would take a good bit of messing around. I'd get the DVD recorder myself!
