I loved the pre-release of windows 8, but I found it quite hard and annoying to use on a regular desktop (no touch screen). Are there any significant differences between Win8 Pro and the pre-release? If so, what are they? |

It is. This is all up to you though. If you're comfortable with 7, stay with it. If you want the latest and greatest, come on up to 8. 8 is a really good OS, you could get used to it really quickly. However, Windows 7 is the best OS since XP, so most will stay with 7 because they're scared of the "Win, fail, win, fail combination" Microsoft's been heading in. |

Their might be a difference, but you probably won't notice it. What you can do is buy a trackpad with multitouch support for your pc. Their not that cheap at the moment (logitech asks about $70), but it may improve your experience. |

I switched from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and to be honesty with you, it's a solid and very fast OS, but I just don't like the new start menu too much (it's a cool idea and all, and i'm sure I could get used to it.) but I don't want to have to install Start8 which pretty much brings back the start menu to Windows 8. But it's your choice, just be sure that all your drivers are compatible! I switched back to Windows 7 due to incompatibility with my video card. Hope this helps! :) |

I would say Windows 8 is a no go. I'm primarily an apple user, but have used the pre-release like you and didn't like much of it. The thing that ticks me is that they are closing down windows and making it less open. |

Just as the poster said,I am not so familiar with windows 8,but I do think that is much more convenient,so it's worth buying.you may have a try.. |

I think you may have a try! I like the user interface of the Windows 8. |

I upgraded to windows 8 and I can tell you, I find it an awesome new OS. Especcialy if you have a touchscreen. I just use it on a regular desktop, but I plan on buying a new touchscreen to get the full "modern UI" experience! |
