Hi guys ! I currently have a Asrock HTPC (http://www.asrock.com/nettop/overview.asp?Model=ION%203D%20Series) running win7 that automaticly starts up XBMC when powered on. Everything works great. drivers all work good, even the remote control allows me to start it remotely.

Now because i got nothing betther to do. im thinking about reinstalling it with either the latest ubuntu or windows 8. So i was wondering which would be betther?

Points that matther: -boot time -drivers -Graphic drivers (need hardware acceleration for xbmc?) -Logitech wireless keyboard driver -Asrock remote controll driver -General performence

if you have any other thoughts about this subject please let me know.

To be honest, I think if you went Ubuntu you would be displeased with your attempt at Linux. Do some research into the current Ubuntu scenario and you will see Ubuntu is turning into a joke of the Linux world. I would recommend starting with either Mint or Debian.

Have you tried media portal? I have been playing around with it recently on an old XP box i had kicking around I managed to get my TV tuner card configured to it and it works pretty well, NOT straight forward to configure, but like you said you have nothing better to do it could be a fun project!
