I really need to delete Adobe Reader XI off the Mac. It won't work with my web browser and now the add on won't work to view pdf. When I try to empty the trash I get the "The operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code - 8003). I tried to close all programs and it still wouldn't work. I tried to install it again, and now I'm stuck with two of these. I can't find any uninstaller. Are there any good ones for mac?

Error code 8003 usually occurs when one or more of the files in the Trash Can have been locked or become stuck.

Download and install this free app called "Trash it!." It tries to remove stubborn files like the ones you have.

That helped to remove the .app files, but when I open pdfs the Adobe Reader message still comes in firefox, is there anywhere I need to go to remove it from the web browser?

You should be able to go into Tools > Add-ons and disable Adobe reader from there. I forget if it goes into Extensions or Plugins however...

I've managed to stay away from Adobe Reader for years now. It's a piece of trash.

Yeah and I had to learn the hard way lol, I thought it would help not get in the way of everything else.

Okay I disabled Adobe Acrobat and it seems to have done the trick. Is there anyway to delete the plug-in or is it some sort of built in component?

FireFox really doesn't give you a way to uninstall a plugin. You can only disable it it.

No I still get the "The operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code - 8003)" error when trying to empty the trash. Do you know any trustworthy app removal programs? I haven't been able to keep up with the TLDRs in a while so I'm not sure if maybe Chris recommended one?

How about the ones recommended there? AppCleaner or AppZapper?

Neither of them worked...

Do you have any other suggestions that might work?

Nope, sorry :/

Well it made some progress. It deleted elements of the app, but the app still has an error when I try to delete it.

Well the main problem is Adobe not wanting to open PDFs on Firefox. After I installed it just blocks the pdfs saying the configuration won't work. Is there anyway for me to block adobe reader from firefox so I can just use the firefox addon to view pdfs?
