Hello I'm thinking about creating some music videos, but don't want to get in trouble with the "Youtube Law". Where if anywhere can I get free/or not legal music(without words) to use for a music video on youtube? Can I use the whole song length if I'm singing? Can I edit the music (legally)? Where if anywhere can I get the music sheets/notes for the songs(these are somewhat popular songs) (legally)? Thanks, MB |

If the video is not going to be monetized it's not against the law to use the music as long as you didn't illegally obtain the music. "Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use." Thanks, but is there any way I can do this with monetizing my videos? 1
Unfortunately no, without getting discreet permission from the Artist. You could always use Royalty-free music. http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/ |
