Hey guys, I'm using Windows 7 and I was wondering if there is a way to lock my laptop (or input devices), but having all of the active processes in working mode (for example; file transfer, downloads or video rendering).

Something with a password would be pretty awesome, but I don't think that such a thing exists.

So, any help? Thanks

If you password protect your user account all you would have to do is hit [Windows]-[L] to lock your screen... Everything would remain running too. If you have applications that must run on startup you could do as I once did, and have windows auto log you in, and load your programs, then lock your computer... I used to use a batch file with an old program called input.com to delay the batch file and if I didn't hit escape the batch file would run a program called "LockWorkstation" I am sure by now there must be even easier ways to do that (My pc used to run Synchronet and several other programs so people could connect to my BBS so they had to run, and then I wanted the keyboard locked so cats, and people could not mess with the server) if you can't find the lock workstation app the cmd line "rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation" is supposed to do the same thing.
