I am currently reevaluating my career plans. I would like to work on setting up and maintaining IT infrastructure. I have an associates degree in Computer networking (Multi-Platform). The classes I took were specifically designed to prepare students to take the Microsoft MCSE, MCITP, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Linux+, and CNA (Certified Novell Administrator) exams. But since then I have forgotten most of what I have learned back then other than what I have been able to use with my home network and network security.

What would be the best IT certification for me to get to give me the best chance of getting a job in that area?

Network+ I feel I think it is an easy certification after you start learning about it.

I would suggest Network Plus first. Then go for MCSE.

CompTIA A+ is great stepping stone to get started with. It ensures that you know the ins and outs of a computer, and how to diagnose a problem that arises. Network+ and Security+ build on top of A+, so it's a good idea to start with that first.

Keep in mind that A+ should be considered as level 1, and you can keep building on top of it with additional certificates.
