i have some audio books i'd like to convert into mp3 as my Nexus 7 doesn't recognise them in their current format :p must work on mac |

What's the starting file format? To add on to this: Where did you get the audiobooks? DRM can create a problem (albeit not an unfix-able one) with file conversions. oh sorry, they're in MPEG-4 and i got them from the iTunes Store I'm assuming .m4a or something like that. Well try to convert it with an audio conversion program. It might just work. http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/products/dvd/Free-Audio-Converter.htm I personally like the DVDVideoSoft suite, and Chris supports it as well, haha. doesn't work on mac :p http://soundconverter.en.softonic.com/mac How about this? not sure if it works as it won't convert files large files without purchasing the software and even then it may not convert it :p i only have a few audiobooks to convert so i'd rather not pay for software i probably wont use again as i'll purchase them off the Google play sore in future so i don't get the same problem again. Hmm. If only you had Windows. How about, last resort, Switch file converter. http://www.nch.com.au/components/switchmaci.zip no luck, it converts the file but there's no audio tried it in a few formats and same thing each time If only you had Windows... Well I'm all out of options, except... Try converting on iTunes?

Try using Audacity. You should be able to just open it and then choose File>Save As and then selecting the .mp3 format. If it won't open then it probably has DRM which makes things a little more difficult but not impossible. If you don't have it Audacity is available for free, Here for OS X, and Here for Windows. it wont open it which means it has a DRM :( After a quick search I have found lots of free and paid DRM removal tools for audiobooks. Most of them work in OS X. However, I cannot recommend any as I haven't used them and do not know of their authenticity. This is really something you'll just have to experiment with. Best of Luck :) |

turns out the best way to do it is by removing the DRM through Tune4Mac however the software costs about £20 which exceeds the value of the audiobooks i need to convert, so i'll just purchase them again and be done with it :p using Audible to do it and the good thing is after signing up to a month trial i got a free download before cancelling it lol so at least i saved on re-purchasing one book, cheers for the help but i really do wish there were a simple inexpensive option to get around the DRM or preferably extend the DRM to include Android devices or at least the most popular ones which would make sense :p |
