[closed] Downgrading to Windows 7

I have recently installed a copy of Windows 8 Pro. I thought I might like it and I do but would rather revert to Windows 7 for mainly software compatibility issues. I would also like to keep all of my programs when downgrading to Windows 7. It would just be to complicated to get all the software and serial numbers from all of the programs. Do note I only have an ISO version of Windows 7. Any help reverting would be much appreciated as I have searched and searched on Google til I couldn't read anymore at 5 A.M..

There is no way to simply revert, I'm afraid. If you install W7 on a new blank partition you can at least retain your file structure but any software that relies on registry entries or the registration of custom .dll and other dependencies will still need to be reinstalled.

I always make it a policy when installing new or upgraded OS to install in this way and run dual boot until I am absolutely convinced that I want to go on with the new system. In the present circumstances this has not proved necessary because I knew from the first that I would hate W8, I appreciate that it's too late to shut that gate now but remember it next time round along with the vital computer watchword "New Is Not Necessarily Better!"

Or you can set up a virtual machine. For trying out an OS that is not in his current situation.

Sorry to tell you but unless you have a good backup of windows 7 then you must do a new clean install... There is no way to go back and keep your files and what not without one. Even with a backup you will still loose whatever you have done with your files on windows 8 so you will have to backup 8 restore 7 and then restore your files that were changed in 8...
