I recently upgraded my Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10 and I notice that 12.10 never updates itself. Every time I try to update it I get an error saying it can't connect and I should check my internet connection. Mark you, I wouldn't be trying to update without being connected to the internet. Any knows about this issue and can let me know what's up?

I can't say I know exactly what it is that's causing this but Ubuntu Forums and Ask Ubuntu are usually the two best online sources for community input on Ubuntu and Ubuntu based distros specific issues.

As a general side note however, 12.10 is nowhere near as stable as 12.04, hence the reason 12.04 is an LTS and 12.10 is not. Good Luck with your problem though.

I would suggest searching for the issue with your particular network adapter and Ubuntu 12.10 in Linux and Ubuntu forums for a solution. You'll probably find one. It's likely to be the dynamic between closed hardware and open software. Forums and bug reports are surprisingly good at solving the issues. If there's not a solution now, there will probably be one fairly soon.
