For the past 4 months, I have been having an issue with the "Intel(R) 82801DB/DBM USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller - 24CD" not being recognized by Windows XP SP3, I am now using Windows 7 Home Basic now (I would use Home Premium but this computer only has 512 MB of RAM) According to Intel, This component's drivers are integrated into Windows XP SP2 and newer (The drivers available for download are the same as what is integrated). I have tried everything that I can think of and am about ready to give up.

Do any of you have any clue as to what is going on?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My motherboard is an "ASUS P4BGL-VM"

Have you gone directly to intel to see if they have a newer set of drivers there for this controller instead of Asus support for the drivers. I have done this on several occasions for intel specific devices like usb 2.0 controllers, wireless and wired networking cards for example. Here is the link from them they may have a newer set than what Asus may have.

I have, thank you for the link. I couldn't find the drivers. But As it turns out, I will not be able to use the full functionality of my USB as the motherboard has been damaged while in storage for a couple of years. sigh

There should be an auto-detect for it querying even on your asus motherboard. I know sometimes that the model of the usb might not show up when manually looking for it. But with the auto-detect It should be able to find it. Just to so you know for next time.
