I would have to go with Windows Vista because it is newer and closer to Windows 7.

Go for Windows 7 with good anti virus software. But if I really had to choose between ME and Vista I would go for Vista "ONLY" for it's design.

Vista, because

  1. I can turn off all the things that suck about it
  2. It's way more compatible with modern hardware and software

Vista, regardless of all its flaws, would be a much better overall experience than it's predecessors.

Vista because it works fine as a operating system and it looks nice. There really isn't that big of a problem with it.
