Should I stay with Windows 7 or switch to Windows 8?

I am wondering that I should switch to Windows 8? What I use my laptop is to surf the internet and edit videos and photos with 2 programs. I use Camtasia Studio 8 and Paint.net. I like Windows 7 but do you recommend me going to Windows 8? If I do I would be installing Windows 8 Pro 64bit. Is it worth switching and installing 8 pro 64bit or staying with Windows 7 Pro 32bit which is what I currently have installed. The laptop I have is a Lenovo T60.

If you're asking this question, I highly recommend anyone that's on the fence to try to use Windows 8, full screened on a virtual machine. If you can't do that, I'd go to a store, a Best Buy, a J&R, a P.C. Richard and Son, whatever, and try it out. This all depends on YOU. No one can tell you what YOU want.

I agree with you on some points, but the fact of the matter is a virtual machine does not really give you a real feel of the OS, and you cant immerse yourself at best buy. But I agree it does depend on the individual and no one can tell them what they want.

Right but you could at least try out the OS before you obliterate your files for an OS you don't want. I mean I tried out Windows 8 since Developer so I knew this was for me. Some people didn't have that luxury. About the Best Buy, I see your point there.

What do you really hope to gain with this switch? Is your computer capable of running a 64 bit OS...

IMO, if what you have works now, stick with it... If you have something to gain with the switch... think about if it is worth it.

Windows 7 is a great OS, i myself do not plan on changing any time soon.

My computer can run a 64bit OS. I just have Windows 7 32bit for now. I want to use Windows 8 because I heard it is faster and I want to try the new OS that everybody is talking about!

Try it first. I've installed Windows 8 Pro and it works better for me than Windows 7... But, that's not the case for everyone. I find myself still using the traditional desktop on Windows 8 rather than using the full screen apps. The only disappointment for me is that Windows Explorer is a bit buggy, especially when copying files to other folders. I've also heard complaints from gamers that they've said Windows 8 doesn't work properly with certain games. Having said that, if I were you, I will go and try it out before buying and see if it fits your needs.
