I'm wondering if cable speeds are flawed because I have 3 Time Warner Cable boxes, and I'm thinking if they're running on the same coax split to my apartment, would my speeds be faster if I don't have the cable boxes on the same split? I also have digital phone from Time Warner and that's all ran through a Motorola modem. So are they flawed if the phone and the TV are taking bandwidth?

I've read that the signal strength does deteriorate when it's split but I think it depends to a large degree on the splitter. People who use high quality splitters don't seem to have signal problems as much as people who use low quality splitters.
My advice would be to look into the best splitters.

The cable company warns you when they set up your system cable phone and modem are all on separte lines for a reason they warn you if you splice add anything to your internet line exspect problems and issues one modem per connection no tapping in that is why they make wireless routers
they warn the same about the digital phone if you have the 3 services you have 3 lines from the pole andmany times the phone and internet ned personal booster just to get full signal as it is , they also warn against having a cable run of more then 15 feet inside from the outside hook up ..
when you mess with there lines disconnects and loss of servcice do to there losing connection to the equipment is very common if your modem has weak signal in there system they will give the IP away and you will be with out untill the signal to them returns ..
time warner or moreto the point roadrunner whidch lease the line from TWC is very tough on there standards and if they even notice an open port as if a server is running they will cut you off been there tried it long ago ..
i would either call TW and ask them to set jup for multiple service or ask about bussiness clas service they monito internet very well and if there is even more then 4 IPs in a house hold they will throttle it to nearly a crawl ..

just to add they hold you responsble to knowing what other aredoing with the connection not allow people to use the service for bit torrents uploading and down loading ,when I was in New york we had Time warrner they monitor there system and connection very closly fover the phone they can tell you how strong your signal from router is if its open password protected how many connection there are and the IP of the either cards connected ..
at one point they called me in the middle of the day to tell me for some reason not only was my router open unprotected but had connection from out side the house detected and requted I password protect other were using my connect for up to more them 40 gigs of bandwith in a month ..
i know sense most providers claim unlimited bandwidth it a hard concept to grasp but there is no such thing as unlimited all systems have limits the more users you have the more limiting it becomes and at busy period services are throttled or slowed down and priority is give to more important use streaming down load from hack sites and such are throttle to nothing if not fully cut off to allow email and such to be sent quickly as well as other services that are paid for through there system such as netflix and such ..
most cable a broad band providers are starting to give up the hiddne fact such as no contract today many make you sign up for service limiting you to fix gig band width for the price here where I am now the limit is 40 gigs a month for $37 a month any thing over is $1.50 per gb up to $150 then over that you must pay in advance and even for that in bussiness and busy hours services are throttled so all have a fair use ..
for $1000 you can watch about 6 hours of video or listen to 12 hours of streamed music or surf the web and send email for 2 decades :)

the actical you have refered to is only partly correct , DSL though it is piont to point is not even close to superior to cable and less then half a s fast and is very dependent to how far you are from the local point as to how good it is
thought the explnation for how the wire works is correct for the wires on the pole in many areas but only at the pole that is where the fibre opticts end from the pole to the house is copper line just like the phone lines and this is where cable hits a brick wall and makes it nessary to privide 3 seprate cable one for each service and inline in home boosters for internet and phonew because the coppper line in regular cable is not fibre optic ..
the casual use will never notice a difference in spped because cable and DSL companies throotle the service to those using torrent and video as not to slow there whole system down ..
the other and bigger issue is this it all depends on where you live fibre optics has not made it every where and most likely will never make it some places where I was in NY the fibre optics started about 2 and half miles away from my front door , I called TWC and asked if I was willing to pay would they run fibre into my house I was told yes how ever due to my location the cost would be about $20,000 to $30,000 to me csh up front or 30 neighbors each willing to pay up to $1000 each and sign A 5 year agreement .. they would run the lines to my home ..
