Hi all new to the tech forums so any assistance would be appreciated. So I have a gateway gt 5040 on XP SP3, it is infected by something which will disable windows firewall and avast mail and web shield protection. This began after running a boot time scan and finding a few corrupt items. Now for the main issue, attempting to repair the problem and system by doing a destuctive restore through the system recovery. After booting from the disk and letting everything load when I get to the screen where you can decide between a soft and destructive restore I have no mouse or keyboard function. I began with a wireless usb k/b and mouse and have tried wired usb devices as well. Please help as this computer will soon be meeting the buisness end of my 12 gauge shotgun and glock 40 cal pistol. You could scan it with another OS. Like Linux on a USB drive. Here's a tutorial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9h3q5ss40oY Just make it a live USB. |
