I've got a question about HootSuite being used as a URL shortener. What I've been hearing is that HootSuite is phishing on the URLs that have been shortened as they redirect; also, that ow.ly has been ranking higher than the actual domain where it directs. I am not sure, but I believe I've seen some of your posts on social media using the ow.ly redirect. What is your opinion on this matter and do you use HootSuite to shorten your URL, or was it my imagination?

I would assume that the rankings are based on clicks, which once in the hands of the external service are no longer being monitored by whatever it is doing the ranking.

All that can do is monitor the clicks or the tweets containing that link, and not where you go after it.

I thought page ranking was not based on clicks, or at least that was my understanding. Several other people have noticed that their HootSuites were reaching higher ranks. I am trying to figure out if its worth continue using it.
