I'm a bit stuck. I really need a new phone soon, since I have my prehistorical Sony Ericsson K770i for four years now, and it's almost falling apart. So I have been looking for phones with the best Android experience, but two came out of that: the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the LG Nexus 4. The problem is that I can't choose which one I should take. The Nexus 4 isn't available in my country (yet?) (The Netherlands), but it is a better phone than the Galaxy Nexus. On the other hand, a Galaxy Nexus is more affordable and I am able to buy it in lots of places here. And I know for sure that I´ll get a 2 year warranty for the Galaxy Nexus, but I´m not so sure about that with the Nexus 4. So maybe you can help me figuring this out. Which one should I choose? Or perhaps some other phone is better? |

I'd choose the Nexus 4, simply because its a great phone. It'll be supported by Google for longer than the Galaxy Nexus. The build quality on the Nexus 4 seems a lot better and the overall experience is generally smoother. I think you'd be happier with the Nexus 4. I'm not quite sure about the buildquality, since it had glass both on the frond and the back. It does however, feel a bit more solid, since it isn't made entirely out of plastic. Is the glass not Gorilla Glass? 1
@ItsDaveyB Gorilla Glass or not, the Nexus 4 glass CAN still break if it hits the ground at the correct angle. I've a friend who's Nexus 4 back completely shattered. I have one and have accidentally dropped it a couple times but it held up. So it depends if you're lucky or not. |

If you need a new phone NOW then don't wait for the Nexus 4. Go buy yourself a used Galaxy Nexus. It is still a great phone and has official support from Google unless the warranty is void. If not supported by Google, it will be supported by the community for a very long time. (Need I remind everyone of how someone got ICS working on the G1?) Every Nexus phone has a lot of custom ROM and developer support. Like I said, find a cheap GNex, and just use that! Its still a great phone, I have one. The build quality isn't great, but its made out of plastic, and you have a better chance of the galaxy nexus not breaking than the Nexus 4 when dropped. |
