What would be the most cost efficient way of achieving this? |

The most you can do is create good website (avoid flash UI's), Avoid spammy text on intercept pages. Also avoid keyword spamming. Good sites will go to the top, especially if it has a lot of content. What google looks for when ranking is not known by anyone outside of google (it is a heavily guarded secret that google puts a lot of effort into protection as once someone figures it out and abuses it, then google will no longer be the number 1 search engine. If your website is just an ad for your business, then it wont show up on the first few pages unless people specifically search for your site, that is why many businesses are now adding a community element, for example element14 is pretty much a store but they have a few of their own online TV shows, forums, tutorials and articles. http://www.element14.com And if you look at their site, the main page is their forums and tutorials and articles and the store is in a drop down menu. Remember, no one willingly goes out to an ad so having a business website that pretty much just functions to show off the business, will not rank. A cost effective way to rank better is to find which search terms you want to lead to your website, then tailor your site to meet all of the needs of the search term, and if someone else is #1 then do a better job at fulfilling that search term better than they do. |
