At the beginning of 2012 I purchased a Skype Number, which is a local phone number attached to your Skype account so that others may contact you even if they don't have Skype themselves. (In other words, they can call a traditional phone number to call you.) I'll probably be keeping the Skype Number, but I'm looking for an alternative to using Skype as my primary home phone provider. Has anyone been able to port their Skype Number to another service (such as Google Talk)? Has the experience been a good one? I don't want to switch to another service just for the heck of it; there are some things about Skype I'm simply having issues with, and I'd like to know if anyone out there has experience porting their Skype Number to another service. |

all phone numbers in the US can be ported over to a new phone service, it is an FCC regulation. |
