Does the screen say 'Disabled Connect to iTunes"?

yes but it was not my iphone 3gs i got it off ebay from someone so useing itunes to restore it will not work i get a error code from itunes.

if you mean a broken screen, yes you can fix it easily.

no the screen is not broken it has disabled connect to itunes on the screen.

Yes it will require a restore though. Put it into recovery mode (look how to do it on google), then restore from iTunes. Boom done. Hope that helped :)!

Was it in recovery mode, because an iPhone when put in recovery iTunes can no longer tell who it belongs to.

if was screen with itune with usb cable on it yes if its black screen no i can not get it to go to that screen.

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 this is apple's page on the subject. Go to the if never synced tab and try that again. Hope this helps.
