Hello again, I have Windows 8 Pro atm and I was wondering if Eset Smart Security 5 would cause problems if I run it with windows 8. Not necessarily problems with Eset usage but more WiFi problems and crashes, because that was less when I had Eset on my laptop and I ended up reïnstalling Windows 8 but Defender doesn't feel safe enough because of my virus-full school network. I wanna use Eset but only if I know for sure that it won't cause any problems. I have an Intel based Samsung Notebook Series 3. Thanks for the possible answers to my question. Florian Kleinhoven |

Did you check their website? like on the home page... like where the banner is with the bionic looking guy... like in the top left corner? highlighted in orange? The internet is a powerful thing, it allows people to post on message boards and forums question, so others can go to the companies home page to find the answer... Is this really what the developers of the internet had in mind? |

Hello, ESET NOD32 Antivirus and ESET Smart Security 5 work just fine with Microsoft Windows 8. ESET's software uses a flexible architecture that lets it download updated modules in conjunction with regular virus signature database updates. This means that if you have ESET Smart Security 5 installed, it is already updated and compatible with Windows 8. More information about this can be found in the following blog post W8ing for V6: What ESET has in store for Windows 8 Users, written back when Windows 8 was released by Microsoft. Version 5 of ESET's software is not certified by Microsoft with a Windows 8 Compatible logo, but compatibility has been verified by two independent testing agencies, AV-Comparatives and AV-TEST. If you are looking for versions with actual "Windows 8 Compatible" logo certification from Microsoft, though, you're not out-of-luck: ESET just released ESET NOD32 Antivirus and ESET Smart Security Version 6 which are officially Windows 8 compatible. And here's some additional good news: They are available for free to all licensed users. More information can be found here on ESET's web site, and here are direct downloads to the various installers:
Hope that answers your questions! Regards, Aryeh Goretsky |
