hi i'm oscar and am going to be purchasing an ipad 4 and was wondering if any of you have any ideas on a case that is slim fitting and provides great protection

DcoltTech's suggestion is great, but I think that it might be a little too thick for your liking.

I personally use Speck's Pixelskin HD on my iPad (third generation). I accidentally dropped my iPad from about three feet (in a parking lot, so it wasn't a fluffy carpet landing), and absolutely no damage was done.

So if you want a case that is good for the accidental drop, I absolutely suggest the Speck Pixelskin HD. The only downside is that the cutout for the lightning connector is really large (to be able to put a third generation iPad with 30-pin dock connector). I really don't think that's a large concern though.
