Well if the Dell Studio 1537 has a HDMI port and your HDTV has a HDMI port, then your good to go.

Look for an HDMI, VGA, or S Video port. My HDTV has all of those.

If your HDTV has the connection for it, then it will work. Most HDTV's do have a PC connection, whether it be VGA, DVI, HDMI, or s-video. Don't forget, there are also adapters available. For example, if your laptop only has VGA video output and your HDTV only has HDMI vido input, then you can buy a VGA-to-HDMI adapter.
