Hello, I need a new cpu. I was looking at the AMD-FX 8350 and the Intel Core I7 3770k. People say that they don't see much of a performance difference between the 2 cpus. Intel a little better but still. I stream a lot. i use 99% of the cpu i got now when streaming. i need to know what cpu 8350 or the 3770 would do the best for streaming. I use a very low encoder. Would the 8350 do the job for the lowest encoder or would the 3770 be better at it? I see people using the 3770k with the lowest encoder but i have yet to see people use the 8350 for streaming. Thanks Maysen. I stream Games like minecraft and Skyrim

In my honest opinion, I think that both of those CPUs are great. However, you seem like the kind of person who cares about the best bang for the amount of money you spend. The AMD FX-8350 is by far the best high end CPU as far as your money is concerned. Intel's i7 3770K is better than AMD's FX 8350, but I find it hard to justify the price tag.

I've stated my somewhat biased opinion, and now I need some information from you.
What CPU do you currently use?
What software do you use to stream (I'm assuming to the Internet like Twitch/Ustream...)?
What motherboard do you have?
Do you know that if you have an AMD CPU and motherboard, that you'd have to buy a new motherboard if you planned on switching to an Intel CPU?
What graphics card do you currently use (if applicable)?
Have you tested out various streaming settings within the streaming software?
Do you have any other applications running while you're streaming?

As you can see, this is a somewhat complicated issue to pinpoint the exact problem that you're having.

Cpu- Intel Core i7 960 4.6 Ghz Motherboard- ASUS P6T7 WS (Free From friend) Software XSplit/OBS I stream to Twitch Yes i do know that for a Amd CPU i would need a new motherboard and i am fine with that. Nividia Evga 670 Yes i have changed stream settings. But i want to produce higher quality video. I am only running Google Chrome xSplit and The game that i am streaming.

Wow, you have a great CPU/Motherboard combination, however you will definitely need to get a new motherboard no matter if you go with Intel or AMD (which I'm sure you know that).

I'm thinking that you could sell your motherboard/CPU combo (give Craigslist a try!), and upgrade to either platforms. My suggestion from here is if you're going for cost effectiveness, go with AMD. If you are going with absolute performance, go with Intel.

I could help you find the right combination if you tell me which direction you think you should go (AMD upgrade will cost about $400 and Intel upgrade will cost around $600).

I am thinking about Amd. But Can it handle great loads? Streaming puts LOTS of stress on your cpu.

Also i have another build. AMD Fx 8120 I have never used it much. I get a lot of computer stuff from a friend who owns a computer store. Would that make a difference by using that CPU or is it no diffrent from the 8350.

SO What i am Asking Is what one would stream the best. Would the amd be the same as the 3770k?

The AMD FX 8120 should actually be better than the i7 960.

I think you should test out streaming with the FX 8120. If you notice slightly better performance with the 8120, it would be cheaper (therefore more logical) just to buy the FX 8350 (make sure you update the BIOS before swapping CPUs). Through that way, you are getting the ultimate bang for buck.

However, I would expect for you to get better performance with the 3770K (I'd assume probably about 5% better performance).

Simply put, Intel is statistically faster, but is it really worth the cost?

Plain and simple the i7 but if you are on a budget get the FX. With the load of streaming + gaming you are better off with the i7 although both will do the job well. Also remember your Internet speeds take a big chunk of the streaming, I hope you have decent upload speeds
